Brazil: Prison rioters said to agree deal to end violence

There are conflicting reports over the situation in a Brazilian prison where riots have left four inmates dead.

While one account says the unrest has entered its second day, another claims prisoners at the Cascavel penitentiary have agreed to end the violence.

The unrest was triggered by complaints of overcrowding.

The rioters killed four of their fellow inmates – two of them beheaded – hours after seizing the prison.

Under the deal, reached after hours of negotiations, most inmates will be transferred to other jails in Parana state.
