MEXICAN MONDAYS~It is said that 1936 to 1969 was the golden age of Mexican cinema. The film Alla en el Rancho Grande, a block buster, might be said to have started that age and was the first classic film of the Mexican cinema. Especially after WWII, Mexican Cinema was the focus of movies for not only Mexico, but also for Spain, Cuba and Latin America. While the US, Europe, Argentina and what was left of the Spanish movie industry made war films, Mexico was making movies of splendid quality in comedy, romance, and music.
This video presents the finale of the 1947 take off of Alla en el Rancho Grande entitled Soy Charro de Rancho Grande (I am a Cowboy on the Big Ranch) starring Pedro Infante and the Columbian born Sofia Alvarez. Infante is the same actor/singer who sang Cucurrucucu Paloma posted on this channel several weeks ago. These Mexican movies always had a large helping of cheer.
