Turkey's Erdogan chooses foreign minister as next PM

Turkish President Elect Tayyip Erdogan has named Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu as the next minister of Turkey.

While his decision has yet to be endorsed in a party vote on August 27, it's unlikely to be opposed.

Mixed reactions on the streets of Istanbul over the selection of Davutoglu as their next prime minister.

(SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) ISTANBUL RESIDENT, BARIS KAL, SAYING:

"I hope the best will happen, this was a decision we all expected. When we look at it from a political view, I don't think he will have much of an impact on the period. The same structures will continue."

(SOUNDBITE) (Turkish) ISTANBUL RESIDENT, NIYAZI YUKSEL, SAYING:

"He is determined, I like that about him. He may not bring good, but at least he is determined."
