    Growing political crisis in Pakistan

    by PressTV

The political crisis in Pakistan deepened after the country’s main opposition party decided to resign from the parliament as well as provincial assemblies.

The development comes as activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party are continuing to stage a sit-in to seek the resignation of the current government.

The opposition has also said it would launch a civil disobedience campaign and has urged people to stop paying taxes and utility bills.

Under mounting pressure, the prime minister conceded to the key demand of the opposition to set up a judicial commission to probe the allegations of mass rigging in last year’s general elections.
