Honda makes some of the most popular cars in America, but unfortunately thieves love them as much as the auto’s owners do.

This year 2 of the carmaker’s models claimed the top spots on the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s list of most stolen automobiles.

The Accord was ranked at #1, followed by the Civic, which came in second.

They were the targets of a combined nearly 100 thousand thefts in 2013.

Others in the top 5 are the Chevrolet Silverado, the Ford F-150, and the Toyota Camry.

Older models are favored over new cars, and of the Accords stolen in 2013, nearly 84 percent of them were released in 1997 or earlier.

Experts believe that has to do with cars becoming more complex in years since, particularly the technology involved in anti-theft systems.

It’s also said that many stolen cars end up in chop shops where they’re dismantled and sold as parts.

There was also good news in the report.

Overall, car theft numbers are declining and in some areas significantly.

In New York City, for example, the numbers are down 96 percent from those reported in 1990.
