B, I have a similar impression; the style is like a "hinge", a turning point in-between two eras... it is quite emotional to hear how the point of no-return is almost palpable here.

Genia...........I am quite familiar with Newport and know what you mean. The world those people lived in was one of wealth and splendor known only to to the lucky few.

Genia and Boston: Those same "Gilded Age Cottages" of the Fords, Vanderbilts, Morgans, etc. can be found on beautiful Jekyl Island, Georgia. They just couldn't spend their money as fast as they were bringing it in. P: This record seems, in a melancholy way, to be saying goodbye to a past era as if it knew "black" blues and soon after that, '28 and'29~swinging jazz sounds of the over the top roaring 20s were going to overtake the old ragtime sounds forever.

Did you ever visit the Mansions in Newport, RI., The Breakers and Marble House (or as they were called Summer cottages? You really experience the Gilded Age when you visit them... They filmed the Robert Redford "Gatsby" at the Breakers.
