Hundreds mourn Italian AP journalist killed in Gaza

35-year-old Simone Camilli was an Italian Associated Press journalist who died while covering the conflict in Gaza on August 13.

Now his body has come home to Italy.

Hundreds gather atop the Tuscan town of Pitigliano to remember the man so many call a friend.

His mother carries an olive branch -- a symbol of peace she says she found on her son's coffin as it left Israel.

The journalist's long-time partner recalls the first time they met.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) YLVA VAN DEN BERG, CAMILLI'S LONG-TIME PARTNER, SAYING:

"Simone my love, I remember so well the first time our eyes met, as we walked towards each other, from opposite directions, in a street in Jerusalem. This month, exactly eight years ago."

Simone's father, the mayor of this small town, pays tribute to his son.
