A new motorcycle helmet will hopefully eliminate some of the dangers associated with bike riding. Skully systems AR-1 bikers helmet has an augmented reality display along with a rear camera.

The screen takes away blind spots and even prevents distraction by forcing rider’s to stay entirely focused on the road. The helmet offers full face and head protection.

The helmet made its first debut at the Demo conference last year and has since gone on to win awards. An IndieGoGo campaign was launched to make the helmets a reality and it was a huge success.

The $250,000 goal was surpassed in roughly 8 minutes. Skully founder and CEO Marcus Weller commented “Our team watched in amazement on the big screen this morning while the numbers kept rising. We are honored to have the opportunity to serve and transform this industry we love.”

GPS navigation is displayed on the screen along with the rear camera view to transmit information so drivers won’t have to turn their heads to read road signs. The AR-1 is also equipped with Bluetooth which allows for music streaming and hands free calling.

A lightweight, aerodynamic shell with 3d laser cut foam offers total protection. The visor is fog, glare and scratch resistant. What do you think of the helmet?
