Looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers have a “handshake agreement” with the Minnesota Timberwolves to bring star power forward Kevin Love to the City of Rock.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst told ESPN Radio New York in the beginning of the week that a trade between the Cavs and T-Wolves was all but complete.
“The deal is done but not done,” Windhorst said. “The teams have agreed, but they can’t say they have agreed, because we’re in this weird moratorium period because you can’t trade Andrew Wiggins until the 23rd of this month.”
Windhorst said the two teams have a “handshake agreement” on the trade.
The deal would send Love packing to Cleveland and Wiggins, the top pick in this year’s draft, to Minnesota. The Sixers’ Thaddeus Young would also join the T-Wolves with Anthony Bennett off to Philly.
With Love in the mix, the Cavs become an immediate contender for the championship in a weak East with a new Big 3 of Lebron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving.
Got to feel for Wiggins, though. After all the hype that comes with being the first pick and thinking you’re going to play with Lebron to then ending up in Minnesota minus Kevin Love. Like Wiggins said, though, the NBA is a business.
