Rome has unveiled the lasted in a series of new pedestrian-only zones in the capital.

The historic square at the foot of the city’s monumental Spanish Steps has been closed to traffic bringing a breath of fresh air to the area.

Car drivers face a fine of 80 euros if they park or encroach near the tourist hot spot.

The decision to restrict the area to bicycles and emergency vehicles follows the closure last summer to traffic around the ancient Colosseum.

The new regulations are to last until November.
