Portugal is to rescue its biggest lender, Banco Espirito Santo, with a €4.9 billion bailout. Last week, the bank reported losses of €3.6 billion due to debts from its biggest shareholder, the Espirito Santo group. The rescue plan will see the lender split into "good" and "bad" banks.
