A New Zealand teen is using Instagram to share his photos like no other. 17-year-old Liam Martin recreates snapshots of female celebrities and shows off his versions via social media.
For the past 8 or so months, Martin has been getting all dressed up to look like some of Hollywood’s top women including Jennifer Lawrence, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
The process isn’t as easy as one would think. Instead it’s a time-consuming and creative ordeal. For starters, Martin has to buy materials for dresses that appear similar to what the stars are wearing.
Then there’s the jewelry and accessories which sometimes includes pasta! The props for each shot are estimated to be about $45.
He posts, on average, about one photo a week. Each picture is taken in his home against the same wall.
Martin says the most difficult photo he’s done is his recreation of the Katy Perry photo from her 'Dark Horse' video. Martin’s version involved utilizing M&Ms and string for the head piece and hand cut paper shreds for a top.
He explains his reasoning for the photos stating “I just want to make people laugh. It's for the entertainment. I figured, it's not really something other guys do, so why not try something different? “
Thus far, Martin has attracted over 1 and a half million followers on Instagram.
