Ross Kemp on Gangs is a BAFTA award-winning documentary series shown on Sky One then repeated on Sky Three. On May 20th 2007 the series again won a BAFTA award for best factual series.
It features actor Ross Kemp as he travels around the world talking to gang members and delving into their society.
In this one-hour documentary, set mostly in the North Island , viewers gets a guided tour of various clubhouses and Mongrel Mob events from Dennis Makalio, member of the Mongrel Mob's Rogue Chapter. There is also interviews with police and victims of Mob violence and looks back on historical footage of gang-related incidents in New Zealand history.
“The idea was to try and to say ‘here is the Mongrel Mob, this violent sort of outfit. Here is what the police and media say about them. Let's try and get inside them and see what they are really like'.”
