Incoming European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker says he wants to get more women into top jobs at the EU executive.

He wants at least ten females joining his team, which is meant to start work in November.

The current commission has 9 women out of 28 commissioners.

But Juncker’s commission could have even less, based on current nominations from member states.

The Czech Republic and Sweden have nominated two female politicians to be their respective commissioners: Vera Jourova and Cecilia Malmström

All the top jobs are set to be decided at an EU summit on August 30th.

BUt the European Parliament is threatening to use its powers to block the Juncker commission if there are not enough women nominated.
