France evacuates citizens from Libya

These French nationals are part of the latest wave of foreigners to evacuate Libya where the security situation is deteriorating rapidly.

Paris closed its embassy in Tripoli and sent a frigate to gather embassy personnel on Wednesday.

On board, they check passports closely. Leaving Libya is even more difficult now that rebel groups are fighting each other for control of the country's main airport.

This fire at a fuel depot near the main terminal was triggered by a missile strike on Tuesday.

Spain closed its embassy and Germany and the Netherlands have followed suit.

The U.S. and the UK both evacuated days earlier as clashes intensified in both Tripoli and Benghazi. More than 200 people have died since in the past two weeks.
