Refugee, a film that marked the debuts of Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor. This film revolves around an Indian Muslim who helps refugees of India as well as Pakistan to cross the border through the Great Rann Of Kutch. Refugee is attributed to have been inspired by the story based around the Great Rann of Kutch by Keki N. Daruwalla titled Love across the salt desert.

Every song of this film was a super hit. Myself and Kashif have tried one of our fav songs in this film, Panchi Nadiya, originally sung by Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik, lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar and music composed by Anu Mallik."The music touches the heart of every listeners and every moment you feel like a heavenly moment."

This film won many awards.Kareena Kapoor won the Filmfare best female debut award. O.P. Dutta won the best dialogue filmfare award.Best filmfare cinematography award to Bashir Ali.Anu Mallik won the best music director National award, and Javed Akhtar won best lyricist Filmfare award as well as National award. Also, Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik, both were nominated for the Filfare best male and female singer awards respectively for this song Panchi Nadiya.
