THE OBSERVERS - A look back at some of the Observers' best stories

A news show produced exclusively from content provided by amateurs. Photos, videos and personal accounts from our network of Observers around the world - all checked by our staff in Paris. First run Saturdays at 8:10 am Paris time.
This week we’re taking a look back at some of the very best stories told by our Observers this year, everywhere from Greece to Sudan.
Story 1: Greece
The video you’re about to see was sent to us in March by a man detained inside the hospital ward of a Greek prison. He filmed the dire conditions inmates live in, many of them petty criminals with serious health problems – some of them close to death.

Story 2: Sudan
Since South Sudan became independent, it has lost the majority of its oil ressources. It’s still got the oil-rich region of South Kordofan, but separatists are now gaining in strength there. The fledgling country is ready to do anything to keep its grasp on the region, including bombing hospitals… Back in May, our Observer Tom Catena, a doctor at a catholic mission in the Nuba Mountains, told us all about this.
