Investigation underway into Air Algerie plane crash

Poor weather looks likely to have been the cause of the crash of an Air Algerie flight that killed 118 people in northern Mali on Thursday, according to French officials.
French, Dutch and Malian soldiers from a UN peacekeeping force earlier secured the sight.
Investigators at the scene are reported to have said that the plane, a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 broke apart when it smashed into the ground.
“Regarding the bodies of the victims…well it’s going to be very difficult because they are spread all over the area. In my opinion, it’s going to be very difficult to find all of them,” said General Gilbert Dien Djere, Army Chief of Staff to the Burkinabe Presidency.
The Air Algerie flight was operated by Spanish airline Swiftair.
International police agency Interpol has said it was deploying a team to help identify the victims who came from 15 different countries.
