Twin car bombs have rocked the Iraqi capital Baghdad, killing 21 people.

Police say the bombs exploded just seconds apart in a busy area in the central part of the city. The blasts went off in Karrada, a district packed with shops and restaurants, shortly after the time when people gathered to break the dawn-to-dusk fast observed during the holy month of Ramadan. The bombings come on the heels of the Iraqi Parliament’s election of a new president.
