An elderly woman in California has become the oldest individual to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Padres game. 105-year-old Agnes McKee was chosen for the toss because a staffer at the nursing home where she lives informed the Padres that McKee celebrated her birthday days before the game.

The team was delighted to have her as a pitcher. McKee used a walker to get to the grassy area in between the mound and the plate.

Once she was comfortable, McKee wound up her arm and tossed an underhanded pitch to the catcher. McKee’s throw wasn’t bad at all.

While there wasn’t much force behind it, she managed to toss the ball into the catcher’s general direction. She reportedly practiced both underhanded and overhanded throws at her retirement home prior to the game.
