Memories of happier times after typhoon Rammasun in Vietnam

Locals are sweeping out the water of typhoon Rammasun.

More than 7,000 residents had been evacuated in these low-lying areas before the typhoon hit.

No casualties were reported here in Mong Cai.

One restaurant owner says she strapped down her possessions to protect them from strong winds.

(SOUNDBITE) (Vietnamese) ROAD SIDE RESTAURANT OWNER, PHAM THI THANH, SAYING:

"There is no loss in terms of human life but my home was completely damaged. Before the storm I tied down and reinforced all other valuables."

The deputy director of the Mong Cai Committee for Natural Disaster says things have return to normal -- despite the heavy flooding.
