Global investment company, Dubai Holding, recently announced its plans to build the “world’s largest mall and indoor park” encompassing 48 million square feet, and fittingly called ‘The Mall of the World’.

Dubai Holding says that instead of a single building, it is going to be a so-called ‘pedestrian city’. Everything will be connected via a tram system.

The grounds will house 100 hotel buildings, along with the earth’s largest indoor family theme park in addition to a cultural and theater district that can reportedly hold 15,000 people. The firm hopes the mall will attract 180 million visitors annually.

The mall alone will be 8 million-square-feet. The entire area is climate controlled.

The United Arab Emirates ruler commented “This project complements our plans to transform Dubai into a cultural, tourist and economic hub for the 2 billion people living in the region around us, and we are determined to achieve our vision.”

The complex will be built in close proximity to the Mall of the Emirates. Dubai Holding did not release an anticipated cost or completion date for the project.
