SCRIPT

Fears were raised overnight when an explosion triggered a fire on Piccadilly Circus in London on Wednesday evening. Emergency and security services were immediately called to the site of the explosion, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical malfunction beneath a manhole cover.

There have been reports of no injuries and no arrests have been made, while the fire was quickly extinguished by London Fire Brigade crew. Eye witnesses reported said those in the vicinity of the explosion panicked and fled the scene.
