There is new hope for the families of more than 200 missing schoolgirls kidnapped in Nigeria by extremist group Boko Haram in April.

The country’s military says it has detained a key commander of the cell involved in taking the girls.

Mike Omeri, Nigerian Government Spokesman said: “One of the informants, one of the key commanders who supplies information to them [Boko Haram] has been apprehended, so something is being done. We are inching towards it, we are inching towards where we want to go.”

Meanwhile, the ‘Bring Back Our Girls’ group said its campaign to free the schoolgirls will continue until they are brought back alive.
