Oklahoma City Zoo’s baby rhinoceros was born on the 21st of June. An adorable video shows show how he took his first steps.

In the process there were a lot of false starts, wobbles, and more than a couple falls back into the mud.

All the while, his mom, Niki, sat calmly by and let the little one prove that he could do it by himself.

Eventually, the baby did catch his balance and was able to hold himself up.

Afterwards, he crawled over towards his mother and gave her a nuzzle.

Even though he’s gaining mobility the newborn hasn’t gotten a name yet.

The zoo is letting the public pick its favorite of 3 possible names.

The winner will be announced in mid-July.

The infant rhino is living in the zoo’s Pachyderm building.

Whether or not visitors get a glimpse of the youngest addition is entirely up to chance.

It all depends upon how mom and baby are feeling and how comfortable they are walking around.
