A dozen people in Philadelphia have been injured following a food truck explosion. Two of the hurt females are left in critical condition with severe burns resulting from the blast.

According to investigators, the propane tank inside the truck mysteriously blew up at around 5:30 in the evening. Witnesses claim they heard the explosion and saw parts of the truck and the propane tank fly through the air.

The tank reportedly hit a passing car which caused a fire. The blast sent the tank about 50 feet away from the truck. Flames were estimated to be approximately 200 feet high.

A 42-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter received the worst of the injuries. They had been inside the vehicle working when the tank ignited. They remain at Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

The remaining victims were bystanders who had been in the vicinity when the truck exploded. Two of them were hospitalized after the incident and their conditions are listed as stable.

Eight others have since been treated and released.
