A colorful kite festival has taken place on one of Portugal's windiest beaches with a few other nations participating.
This year, there were less countries taking part in the International Kite Festival due to financial issues, but it did not stop kites from flying high. Only four countries, including Spain, France, Canada and Portugal itself, participated in the event. The beach, where the festival takes place, is on the banks of the River Tejo. The area is well known for its strong winds, and unique location, which is just outside the capital Lisbon.
