Count on Kumudam, one of the most popular weeklies in Tamil nadu, to court controversy at regular intervals in politics and films. In its latest issue which hit the newsstands yesterday, the magazine has named Vijay as the next superstar of Tamil films. The journal claims that it conducted a mega survey through postal votes, votes on internet and through direct voting by the members of the public.
As Rajini is still going strong, his fans feel that the survey by Kumudam to find out who is the 'next superstar' is totally irrelevant. "Vijay has had only limited number of hits and was never as overpowering or as dominating as Rajini is," said an angry fan of Rajini, who has been following all his films for the past three decades. "As such, Rajini's stardom can't be compared with Vijay who pales in comparison," he says
