STORY: Mourners gathered around the shrouded body of 16-year-old Israeli Gil-Ad Sha'er in his hometown of Talmon on Tuesday (July 1) for an emotional funeral service.

Sha'er was one of three Israeli teenagers who went missing on June 12 while hitchhiking and whose bodies were found on Sunday (June 29) under a pile of rocks in a field near Hebron.

Israel has blamed their abduction and killing on the militant Palestinian group Hamas.

Services for the other two teens, Naftali Fraenkel, also 16, and Eyal Yifrah, 19, were also held on Tuesday in their respective homes towns, before the remains of all three teenagers were transported later in the day to the city of Modi'in, where thousands had gathered to witness their burial side-by-side.

Their deaths have prompted an outpouring of national grief and Israel has vowed to punish Hamas over the killings.
