Dad's Army - s02e02 - The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage
- 10 years ago
This is a recently rediscovered episode of the situation comedy "Dad's Army", long thought to be lost. Filmed in 1968 in black-and-white.
Set in World War Two, the home guard - or local defence volunteers - defend Britain's south coast against German invasion in 1940.
In this second season episode, "The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage", an invasion alert leads to a battle to defend the strategic stronghold of Godfrey's cottage, due to a slight misunderstanding when Corporal Jones dons an old German steel helmet which Godfrey had brought back from France after the 1914-18 war.
Starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, and Clive Dunn.
