North Korean youth and students attended dancing parties in the capital, Pyongyang on Thursday (June 19).
The parties marked the 50th anniversary of the start of work of late leader Kim Jong-il's at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), North Korea's state news agency, KCNA said.
In footage provide to Reuters by KCNA, which cannot be independently verified, people were seen dancing in circles to music including a song entitled, "We Will Uphold Our General'.
Some of parties took place in the plaza of the Monument to the Party Founding, the April 25 House of Culture and the Arch of Triumph, KCNA said.
Kim Jong Il died from complications due to a heart attack in 2011. He was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-un whom state media hailed as the "great successor".
