A family in West Yorkshire is desperately trying to get a little boy’s dog back. Surveillance footage captured two thieves chasing around the child’s Pug before snatching the animal up and taking off.
The 7-month-old puppy belongs to 6-year-old Ellis Barrett. The young child has endured a tough life. After being burnt by scalding hot water as a baby, Ellis developed sepsis, which occurs when the body has a severe reaction to an infection possibly caused by bacteria.
For the past four years, Ellis was forced to undergo numerous surgeries as a result. He asked his mother, Lucy Swift for a dog to help lift his spirits.
Swift worked extra shifts to save enough money to grant his wish. Everything was great until Sunday when the family let the Pug named Peaches out in the front garden.
CCTV footage shows two men chasing Peaches around the street outside the garden. They eventually picked her up and fled. Peaches is not microchipped making it nearly impossible to determine her whereabouts.
For now, the family is relying on social media to spread the word about the stolen pup. Swift remarked “Ellis and Peaches are like best friends. He has her in the bath with him and everything. He’s devastated she’s gone and all we want is to find her.”
Local police are now asking for information about the theft.
