Syria: dozens dead after huge truck bomb in Hama

A huge truck bomb in Syria’s western Hama province has killed at least 34 people and wounded more than 50 others, the country’s SANA news agency is reporting.

Many women and children are thought to have been caught up in the blast after a suicide bomber detonated the vehicle.

Forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad have described the bombing as a ‘terrorist’‘ attack, wording often used to refer to rebel fighters.

It is still not clear if the explosion is related to the militant Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant which is active in Syria.
