Thousands join "March for Marriage" in Washington

    by PressTV

Thousands of Americans have staged a rally in Washington in opposition to the rising number of same-sex marriages in the United States.

The protesters marched from the Capitol to the Supreme Court building. Several American groups, including the National Organization for Marriage, joined the so-called March for Marriage. The protesters demanded that the US keep marriage defined as a union between a man and a woman. Among the demonstrators was former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who addressed the protest. He backed marriage between men and women as best for children. Gay marriage is on the rise in the US and has been legalized in 19 states.
