Newly inaugurated Spanish King Felipe VI appeared with his wife, Queen Letizia, appeared in public after the inauguration ceremony in Madrid, Thursday.

His father, Juan Carlos I abdicated the throne at midnight on Wednesday, ending his 39-year rule and marking the first time that a King has passed the rule to his child since 1885.
