The Palestinian national unity government has called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to end its administrative detention policy.

Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah says Tel Aviv should release Palestinian prisoners who've been on hunger strike for 52 days now. More than 120 inmates have been refusing to eat since April 24 to protest their detention without charge. Scores of them are now hospitalized due to their critical health condition. Palestinian officials say the Israeli guards are treating hunger-striking prisoners in a brutal and inhuman manner. The striking inmates argue that they're innocent and should be freed.
