PAINTING THE MASTERPIECES - THE CAPOLAVORI ART DOCUMENTARY

A fascinating documentary for art lovers about the painting of the Capolavori Collection of modern masterpiece paintings by American artist, Buddy Sears. The collection consists of five large works painted over the course of three years and includes interviews with the artist from beginning to end. The paintings are the crowning achievement of a prolific and diverse collection of art from Sears.

As Sears paints, we hear him say, "Nobody creates a masterpiece. A masterpiece is created one perfect stroke at a time. If I look a this massive canvas and think that I have to create a masterpiece, it's overwhelming, but if I remember that I only have to create one perfect stroke at a time, well, that's a small enough task for me to manage."

Still a teenager, Aja Webb-Sears, was able to capture photographs and video from the beginning of the project to completion nearly three years later. These were added to other photos and videos taken later by professional photographers and videographers as the project continued, giving us a unique look at an entire process not usually seen by the public. During an interview, Sears brings each painting to life as he shares the stories of his colorful characters and their adventures. This documentary takes us behind the scenes of a modern day art world where imagination is turned into reality and dreams do come true.
