Representatives from Iran and the United States sit down for face-to-face talks in Switzerland. The dialog comes as part of Tehran's nuclear negotiations with the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.

Deputy foreign ministers Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi head the Iranian delegation. The US negotiating team is led by Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns as well as top White House adviser Jake Sullivan. Tehran has stressed that only nuclear topics will be brought up in the discussions. Araqchi says the talks come as most of the sanctions against Iran have been unilaterally imposed by Washington. The Iranian negotiators will later in the week head to Rome for two days of talks with a Russian delegation. Iran and the P5+1 group are preparing for a new round of discussions in Vienna from June 16 to 20 to finalize a deal over the country's nuclear energy program.
