Egypt's new president has warned that there will be no leniency for those committing acts of violence.
Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also pledged to do his best to bring reconciliation, but not with those who have blood on their hands. He added that achieving security and fighting terrorism are his priorities. Sisi made the comments during his first national address as the new head of state, hours after taking the oath of office. The former army chief ousted Egypt's first democratically-elected president Mohamed Morsi last July. Egypt's military-backed government then cracked down on Morsi's Muslim Brotherhood movement by jailing its leaders and killing hundreds of its supporters.
