Many people are left scratching their heads following a seemingly bizarre comment made by Gwyneth Paltrow. On her Goop website, it was revealed she believes water has feelings and that if people are mean to the liquid, the molecular chemistry is negatively affected.

She mentioned the book penned by Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto. In ‘The Hidden Messages in Water’, Emoto cites his belief that human consciousness can alter the structure of h2o.

Paltrow showed her support for that theory, noting “"I am fascinated by the growing science behind the energy of consciousness and its effects on matter. I have long had Dr. Emoto's coffee table book on how negativity changes the structure of water, how the molecules behave differently depending on the words or music being expressed around it.”

Many disagree with that sentiment. As do many scientific experts, who have previously criticized Emoto’s book and refer to his ideals as ‘pseudoscience’.

In Paltrow’s Goop post, she made sure to point out Dr. Habib Sadeghi, the co- founder of a Los Angeles based integrative health center shares her belief. In Sadeghi’s own column, he says Emoto proved the energy from words, whether they be negative or positive, can change the physical structure of things.
