'The Hunger Games' is one of the most popular franchises internationally.

In the movies, Jennifer Lawrence plays Katniss Everdeen, who becomes a symbol of the revolution against totalitarian rule in the fictional nation of Panem.

Now the three-fingered salute of the movies and books to show solidarity against oppression has been taken up by anti-coup protesters in Thailand.

On June 1st, demonstrators outside a university and shopping mall were seen using the very same salute and now the military, who toppled the government's administration in May, has warned the protestors against doing this.

The original movie, 'The Hunger Games' smashed into the box office in 2012 making nearly $700 million dollars worldwide - of that nearly $700,000 came from Thailand's box office receipts.
