Nigeria celebrated 15 years of the return of democratic rule but the scale of the security challenges faced by the nation was underlined once again today. Suspected Islamist gunmen on motorbikes killed dozens of people in a village in the northeast. It this kind of violence that President Goodluck Johnathan vowed to tackle as he declared a crack down on Boko Haram militants.
