A little downtime on the sands and in the water didn’t turn out too good for dozens of Huguenot Memorial Park visitors.

On a recent Sunday, approximately 100 cars parked on the sand while the occupants enjoyed the good weather. Due to high tide, those vehicles became stuck there.

Some of the autos were submerged. Park visitors were forced to wait for the tide to go back out.

According to one affected beach goer, who took to Facebook to express her displeasure, one or two cars were firmly lodged in the sand forcing the other autos to sit and wait in a traffic jam of sorts.

Another Facebook user posted that it took 2 hours just to get off the beach and that park staffers did not help the affected drivers.

Although the park does allow vehicles to park on the sand, some locals believe there should be a limit so future traffic jams can be prevented
