New Standoff in Mali: Separatist Tuareg Rebels Attack Kidal

Just as France's president was welcoming African leaders to a regional security summit in Paris, a summit triggered by the outcry over the radical Islamists of Boko Haram, Paris' attention was being drawn back to northern Mali. This time, it's not radical Islamists but Tuareg separatists who are fed up, they say, with being ignored by authorities in the far-away capital. At least 36 were killed over the weekend, and some 30 civil servants from Bamako were taken hostage. So what can France do?
