Thailand: interim PM flees meeting, at least 3 killed in Bangkok protests

In Bangkok, anti-government protesters have pushed their way into a military compound,forcing the interim prime minister to flee a meeting with the election commission.
The session was quickly abandoned leaving an empty conference room and the electoral commission representative saying they would arrange to meet another day.
Protesters want the Shinawatra family out of Thai politics and government reform to take place before a vote is held.
Yingluck Shinawatra lost her job as prime minister last week, but her caretaker government remains in office.
One protester said: “They have no right to hold an election. The government talk about their duty but they have to ask the people. They have to ask about the people who died. They never mentioned it.”
A few hours earlier, at least three people were killed and more than 20 others wounded near Bangkok’s Democracy Monument. Gunmen with grenades attacked anti-government protesters.
It was the most serious incident in long-running protests since five people were killed in February when police made their most determined effort to clear demonstrators.
