Jazz Fest 2014: Trombone Shorty Takes Us Back to His Street Hustle Days
  • 10 years ago
Treme native Troy Andrews, aka Trombone Shorty, is one of New Orleans' ambassadors of soul. Shorty got his start alongside his older brother playing NOLA clubs and hustling his music with pals in the French Quarter's Jackson Square. He's come a long way since those days. This year, for a second year in a row, Shorty will close out the 2014 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. VIBE caught up with Shorty at his digs and talked to him about his rap influences and how it all began.
