One of the US capital’s most popular sites, the Washington Monument, is reopening after a three- year-long repair job following earthquake damage in 2011.

The 15 million dollars (10 million euros) needed for the renovation came from Congress and philanthropist David M. Rubenstein.

The 185 metres obelisk was built as a tribute to George Washington’s military leadership during the American Revolution.
