Monica Lewinsky is going public about her affair with President Bill Clinton in a tell-all article appearing in the next issue of Vanity Fair.

For years she’s remained so silent on the matter that rumors have circulated about a possible payoff by the Clintons.

Lewinsky says that just isn’t true.

She’s speaking out now because she wants to stop, “tiptoeing around my past—and other people’s futures. I am determined to have a different ending to my story. I’ve decided, finally, to stick my head above the parapet so that I can take back my narrative and give a purpose to my past. What this will cost me, I will soon find out.”

The affair has already cost her quite a bit. She admits that in the past she’s experienced depression and had suicidal impulses.

Many of those feelings returned after teenager Tyler Clementi took his own life following the release of a video showing him kissing another man.

Lewinsky hopes that by sharing her story, she can help others experiencing “online humiliation and harassment”.
