Nic Pizzolatto, creator of "True Detective"
Nic Pizzolatto was born in New Orleans in 1975 into a Catholic family. Passionate about books, he studied literature at Louisiana State University. He then taught literature and in parallel published his first two short stories at the age of 25 in The Atlantic Monthly. His first novel, “Galveston”, was published in 2010 and was met with critical acclaim. In France, it won the Best Foreign Novel Award in 2011. He then began writing his second novel entitled “True Detective”, which served as the basis for a screenplay for the series that he pitched to HBO. His narrative skill immediately won over the channel, which commissioned a first season, broadcast in January 2014, becoming a cult series in a matter of weeks.
This master class, hosted by Pierre Serisier, took place on april the 23rd 2014 for the Séries Mania festival at Forum des images, Paris.
