The US government has begun an inquiry into 55 colleges and universities accused of mishandling sexual abuse complaints.
The so-called Title Nine Investigation includes prominent US universities, including UC Berkeley, Harvard, and Princeton. As the list of schools has just been released, most universities are remaining very tight lipped on the issue. Government officials say the list is a first of its kind and underscores the prevalence of sexual misconduct in higher education. The probe is also assessing whether the universities' response was appropriate. How to prevent and respond to sexual assaults on US campuses has become a national question.
